2026 Harvest Update: News from the Karusa Wine Cellar

The 2026 harvest season has arrived at Karusa, bringing with it the unique challenges that only the Klein Karoo climate can provide. After a notably dry 2025 winter followed by an unusually humid start to February, our winemaking team has been working around the clock to ensure the quality of this year’s vintage.

Balancing Quality and Climate

We are currently at the halfway mark of the harvest. To protect the integrity of our grapes from the recent damp conditions, we made the strategic decision to move our fruit into the winery earlier than usual.

What to expect from the Karusa 2026 Vintage:

  • Whites: Expect vibrant, aromatic wines with firm acidity and refreshing flavor profiles.

  • Reds: These are set for harvest within the next 2–3 weeks, promising excellent structure.

  • Profile: This year’s wines will likely feature slightly lower alcohol levels and balanced pH, perfect for those who enjoy a crisp, elegant finish.

Visiting the Garden Route & Southern Cape

It was a joy to welcome so many local visitors during the December holiday season. As travelers flocked to the Southern Cape and Garden Route, Karusa became a sanctuary for those seeking a laid-back Klein Karoo atmosphere.

Whether you’re stopping by for an ice-cold Sauvignon Blanc or our signature Blond Ale, we remain a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Western Cape wine routes.
